Vitals: The UCF Knights are coming off a disappointing loss to the then-No. 22 Houston Cougars last Saturday. They blew a 17-point third-quarter lead and allowed a career-high three rushing touchdowns from quarterback Conner Weigman. UCF ends its two-game road trip in Oklahoma facing its second straight ranked opponent, the No. 18 Oklahoma State Cowboys. Oklahoma State is on a three-game winning streak, averaging 46.3 points per game and quarterback Drew Mestemaker leading the Big 12 with 317.8 yards per game (34.8 more than Arizona's Noah Fifita).

Can UCF’s Passing Attack and Pass Rush Improve?

The Knights have lost the deep passing game since Keyone Jenkins replaced an injured Alonza Barnett III. He's struggled to complete passes over 20 yards, often putting too much zip and air on his throws.

Frost and offensive coordinator Steve Cooper have tailored their play calling to Jenkins' strengths, completing short and intermediate passes. Cooper said he wants to push his quarterback's limits and start pushing the ball downfield.

Unlocking the deep passing game could help Frost find the offensive consistency he's searching for against another ranked foe.

UCF's pass rush had a down performance last week against then-No. 20 Houston. The front seven finished with one sack; linebacker Jahleel Culbreath and EDGE Aymeric Koumba tallied 0.5 sacks.

The Cowboys' offensive line could neutralize the Knights' pass rush. They have allowed three sacks this season, tied for second in the Big 12.

Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch isn't cutting his pass rush slack against a ranked team. He wants to see improved pressure impacting Mestemaker's throws.
