The Brooklyn standout flips his commitment to join Johnny Dawkins’ reloading roster, bolstering a high-octane backcourt alongside prolific scorers Dior Johnson and veteran steal-specialist Arturo Dean.
Prior to Sunday, UCF men's hoops had just one 2026 recruit signed to the class, with 4-star forward Ladarius Givan as the lone signee.
However, over the weekend, UCF added another commit in 3-star shooting guard Jahda Swann, who was previously committed to Hofstra.
Swann, a Brooklyn, NY, native finished out his high school career at The St. James in Springfield, VA.
He is currently listed as the No. 24 overall shooting guard in the 2026 class and joins a young, dynamic UCF backcourt.
After losing key production like Themus Fulks and Riley Kugel to the NBA Draft, head coach Johnny Dawkins and his staff moved quickly to bring in depth in the back court.
Arturo Dean is one of the more experienced players coming to UCF, staying in the Big 12 after time with Oklahoma State.
Dean joined the team this past December, but it was too late for him to participate in the season.
After redshirting, Dean joins the Knights as their veteran point guard presence.
Dean joins UCF after spending two years at Florida International and one year at Oklahoma State.
Dean led all of Division I in steals (3.35 per game) during his 2023-24 season at FIU before serving as a critical rotational guard for the Cowboys two seasons ago.
He is also reuniting with his brother, Mister Dean, who transferred to UCF this past offseason.
Mister is a dynamic, young forward who has showed flashes of special scoring talent at the mid-major level.
Unfortunately, he missed most of last season due to injury, but has shown flashes of offensive firepower, especially as a driver.
Dior Johnson, who broke out with Tarleton State last season, is also in line for a bigger role in his return to the UCF program.
While Johnson has done his work off the bench for most of his career, it will be tough to keep him off the floor if he can replicate his success with Tarleton State in his second tenure with the Knights.
With the Texans, Johnson averaged 24.0 points per game, shooting on stellar 50/47/85 splits.
Johnson showed the ability to take over games on multiple occasions, scoring 30-plus in seven appearances and eclipsing 40 twice.
Against Big 12 rival Baylor, Johnson exploded for 42 points, shooting an incredible 17-for-24 from the field.
He followed up this flurry with 33, 29, and 27-point showings, with all three leading to wins.
While it may be a difficult road to playing time right away for Swann, UCF has shown the ability to develop guards in the past.
