After dominating the Big 12 and Big East as a premier scoring threat, the versatile 6-foot-5 guard brings his elite mid-range game and offensive firepower to Chicago.
Although no Knights were represented within this year's NBA Draft selections, three former UCF standouts have inked contracts with NBA franchises following the draft, including Themus Fulks, Keyshawn Hall, and Jaylin Sellers.
Sellers, who is the furthest removed from his playing days in Orlando, landed with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.
He joined the Knights after two years at Ball State, where he earned an All-MAC Third Team designation as a sophomore. His freshman season, he was an All-Freshman team performer.
Sellers spent two seasons at UCF, leading the Big 12 in conference scoring for most of the 2023-2024 season and averaging a team-high 15.9 points per game while scoring a career-best 524 total points.
Unfortunately, Sellers suffered a brutal back injury in the preseason of the 2024-2025 year, limiting him to just three appearances in his second year with UCF.
To close out his collegiate career, Sellers moved on to the Big East, joining the Providence Friars. The 6-foot-5 combo guard had a career-year, averaging 18.3 points per game on 47/42/86 shooting splits.
After declaring for the draft, Sellers thanked all three of the programs he played for.
"Ball State, thank you for giving me my first chance, believing in me early and helping me start this journey. UCF, thank you for helping me grow. Every challenge, every lesson, every moment that pushed me to become better on and off the court," Sellers said on social media. "Providence, Friar Town, thank you for embracing me and my family from day one. The support, the energy and the amp, the belief. It meant everything to me. Through every high and every moment of adversity, y'all stood by us."
As the top scorer in the Big East, Sellers eclipsed 20+ points on 14 different occasions.
In a double overtime victory over Butler, Sellers scored a season-high 36 points, adding six rebounds and three steals.
Sellers hit big shots down the stretch to force extra time, capitalizing in a big conference matchup.
While Sellers' perimeter shooting took a significant jump, the 6-foot-5 lefty likes to do his damage in the mid range and paint, using decisive moves at the point of attack to get downhill.
Sellers doesn't waste movements, getting into defenders and creating space.
After a Big 12 Honorable Mention with the Knights, Sellers made the Second Team All-Big East in Rhode Island, adding to his collegiate achievements.
Now, he joins a Chicago roster looking for offensive firepower. While UDFAs usually have a tough time getting playing time right away, Sellers' willingness to grow will serve him well, no matter where he begins his professional career.
