After a breakout at Wofford, Machowski makes a significant leap, joining a championship-contending UConn program ready for more success.
Junior combo guard Nils Machowski spent his first two collegiate seasons with UCF, contributing in a limited role off the bench.
After a standout season with Wofford, Machowski re-entered the portal, making an impressive jump to UConn.
In his freshman campaign, Machowski logged just 9.3 minutes per game, making 25 appearances for the Knights.
With Machowski's limited playtime, he struggled to find a rhythm, averaging just 2.0 points and 1.1 rebounds on 32.7% shooting and 27.3% fro 3-point range.
In his sophomore season, Machowski showed improvement, upping his splits to 43.5/36.7 shooting and starting nine games.
After cracking double-digits just once throughout the regular season, Machowski took advantage of increased minutes and opportunity in the College Basketball Crown, posting three games of 11 or more points.
In the first round, Machowski scored a season-high 15 points, knocking down three 3-pointers.
He followed this up with an 11-point performance against Cincinnati, adding five rebounds and an assist.
Although the Knights came up short in the Crown Championship, falling 77-66 to Nebraska, Machowski had his best showing of the tournament, scoring 13 points, snagging six rebounds and adding three steals.
Following Machowski's impressive postseason, he announced he would be entering the transfer portal.
Relatively quickly, he landed with Wofford, where Machowski broke out.
In his first year with the Terriers, Machowski transformed into their second-leading scorer (17.2) and leading rebounder (5.7), knocking down 38.2% of his 3-point attempts.
The former Knight notched 30 or more points on three occasions, including a 37-point outburst against The Citadel in early January.
Machowski then scored 30 points against the Bulldogs again later in the season, knocking down 15 3-pointers combined across the two meetings.
The 3-pointer was a main weapon for Machowski, as he turned into a volume shooter with Wofford, but did not suffer efficiency-wise.
After breaking out at Wofford, Machowski once again entered the portal, where he ended up with one of the most successful college basketball programs in recent memory - UConn.
Machowski will have the opportunity to play for a program that has been to three National Championship games in the past six seasons, winning two.
He also will learn from head coach Dan Hurley, who has become one of the most popular and polarizing figures in collegiate sports.
