UCF hosts scoring sensation Lewis Walker, a freshman phenom averaging 18.9 points. He could electrify the Knights' offense after a record-breaking season.
Looking to build off a March Madness appearance, UCF is hitting the transfer portal early and often, making contact with multiple intriguing players, such as Khaman Maker and Jayden Reid.
But, one player is a bit further along in the process, as North Carolina A&T freshman guard Lewis Walker is taking an official visit Thursday-Saturday.
The 6-foot-6 freshman averaged 18.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, while earning All-CAA Third Team and All-Rookie Team honors. He finished second in the CAA in free throws made (187) and field goal percentage (50.8).
Walker joined the Aggies after redshirting at Massachusetts in the 2024-2025 season, bursting onto the scene with five straight games of 16 points or more to open the season.
This was just the beginning for Walker, who posted multiple high-octane scoring performances, including two 33-point performances.
The first explosion came in mid-January against William & Mary, as Walker seemingly couldn't miss, knocking down 11-of-14 (78.6) shot attempts.
Walker got in a rhythm early and carried it throughout the game, attacking the rim and stepping out for three 3-pointers.
Just nine days later, Walker matched his season-high of 33, once again posting an efficient shooting night (9-15). Walker also displayed great versatility, pulling in seven rebounds and dishing four assists.
Walker's rebounding was impressive throughout the season, as the Winston-Salem product had multiple games of double-digit rebounds, including an 18 point, 14 rebound double-double against North Carolina Central.
He also had the opportunity to shine on a national stage, taking on Hampton at the NBA HBCU Classic in mid-February. Walker scored 18 points on just nine field goal attempts, converting 8-of-11 attempts from the free-throw line.
UCF has shown success when recruiting standouts from mid-majors and Walker certainly fits that role.
In the new age of NIL and the transfer portal, many talented recruits are underlooked, including Walker. Despite being a three-star recruit coming out of high school, Walker had just two power-four offers, Missouri and Wake Forest.
This didn't stop Walker from having a dominant freshman campaign. His scoring average was the highest by a freshman in school history while Walker's 548 total points set the program freshman single-season record.
Now, as Walker looks to move on to a more-prominent program, he leaves a legacy as one of the greatest NC A&T performers in program history.
He would make a nice replacement for Chris Johnson, who was UCF's flamethrower off the bench last season. Thus far, Johnson is the only Knight to enter the transfer portal.
