This past weekend, Lockett wreaked havoc in the Panthers' backfield, recording 1.5 tackles for loss and splitting a sack.
Dating back to high school, Lockett has been a highly-touted player, being ranked as a 4-star and listed as the No. 24 defensive tackle in the nation.
He spent three seasons with Georgia Tech, appearing in ten games as a redshirt freshman.
If Lockett can stay healthy and continue to produce at this rate, expect him to make significant noise as an NFL Draft prospect.
Lafontant, on the other hand, is entering his first season as a major contributor with UCF.
Last year, the 6-foot-3 Miami Beach native tallied 11 tackles, while appearing in ten games as a depth defensive lineman.
In Week 1, Lafontant had the opportunity to take on his old squad, Bethune-Cookman, where he recorded two total tackles and thwarted the Wildcats' ability to run the ball effectively.
Through two games, UCF's rush defense is giving up just 2.55 yards per carry, which is a direct result of the work in the trenches.
Heading into Week 3 against Georgia State, the defense's level of play has been extremely encouraging.
Georgia State's run game has gotten off to a hot start in the program's opening two victories, rushing for six yards per carry.
Shutting down lead running back Lanear McCrary Jr. will be a priority for the defensive line early, forcing the Panthers' less-effective passing game to be used more often.
