The Sanford native is fueling the Knights’ defense with a historic takeaway streak and versatile blitzing, cementing his status as a Big 12 standout and NFL prospect.
Ahead of the 2026-2027 season, multiple Orlando natives on UCF's football team talked about wanting to leave a legacy in their final years with the program.
Senior defensive back Demari Henderson, attended Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida, where he and his twin brother, Ja’Cari, were rated among the top players at their position.
Through the opening four games of his final season, Henderson has been one of the most dynamic players on Alex Grinch's defense, forcing turnovers and flying around the field for tackles.
Against Georgia State, Henderson became the second Knight to have two or more multi-interception games in the last 18 years and just the fourth in program history, recording two interceptions and adding seven tackles.
Following his performance, he was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week.
He followed up this showing with another big day on Saturday, helping UCF shut down TCU and hold transfer quarterback Jaden Craig in check.
Henderson once again was among the team leaders in tackles, tying the team-high with five, adding a sack and pass defensed.
Henderson's sack was a huge play, bursting off the edge and taking down Craig for loss.
On Tuesday, UCF shouted out the standout defensive back, noting that Henderson is the only player in the Big 12 with two or more interceptions and a sack this season.
His sack over the weekend was one of eight tackles for loss recorded by UCF's defense, with the defensive line shining through.
Having Henderson available to blitz in certain packages adds another element of pressure to UCF's attack.
If he can continue to play at this high level, Henderson could play his way into NFL contention.
His combination of ball skills and length allows him to move in and out of the slot and outside, giving him advantages against different types of receivers.
The road ahead will be a big test for UCF's secondary as a whole, as the Knights are slotted to take on ranked teams in the next three consecutive games.
It begins on Saturday against No. 20 Houston, with the Knights looking to avenge last year's Space Game loss - the first in program history.
The Cougars are 3-1, with their only loss coming against No. 13 Texas Tech in a tight two-point defeat.
Starting quarterback Connor Weigman has gotten off to a hot start in his senior season, throwing for at least three touchdowns in three of four of Houston's games.
