The Knights beat out SEC and Big 12 powerhouses for the versatile Lake Wales playmaker, securing an explosive three-way threat to headline their growing 2027 recruiting class.
UCF has remained active in the 2027 recruiting cycle, bringing in local talents and multi-positional prospects.
On Sunday morning, 3-star ATH Kaneilius Purdy continued the Knights' success recruiting in Florida, committing to UCF.
"None of my family made it past college or finished college," Purdy told 247 Sports' Andrew Cherico. "Coming up, I never thought I was going to be this good, to be honest. It is just a blessing."
Purdy is ranked as the No. 35 ATH nationally and the No. 52 prospect in Florida in the 2027 class.
Joining the first five Knights' 2027 commits, who all grade in as 3-stars, Purdy provides head coach Scott Frost with multi-positional value.
Purdy plays his high school football in Lake Wales, and is currently listed as a running back, safety, and wide receiver.
Purdy chose the Knights over many standout programs, including Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, joining a versatile 2027 UCF class.
The 6-foot, 190-pound ATH was one of 10 players in attendance for UCF's recent visit weekend, committing following his time in Orlando.
According to Purdy's X account, the Lake Wales standout recorded 1,392 all-purpose yards, doing most of his damage as a receiver.
Purdy notched 1,045 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, while also serving as the Highlanders' punt returner and kickoff specialist.
On the defensive side of the football, Purdy had 15 tackles and one interception.
If Purdy remains focused on defense, he will suit up alongside Nease High School safety Kash Kolbow, who recently committed to UCF.
Kolbow was the first safety commit in the 2027 cycle, adding to defensive coordinator Alex Grinch's secondary.
After a solid 2024 season, Kolbow broke out as a junior, recording 68 tackles, two tackles for loss, 23 pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, one recovery, and two interceptions, doing it all for Nease's defense.
With high school teams beginning to get ready for the upcoming season, Kolbow and Nease took the field against Raines High School on Thursday, where the new UCF commit recorded an interception.
UCF has had a clear emphasis on bringing in playmakers and finding local talent to build around.
The staff's success with in-state recruiting is exciting for Knights fans, as the program is showing the ability to compete with the "bigger" Floridian programs.
With six players in the 2027 class, the Knights will continue to rise the ranks for Big 12 recruiting, currently sitting as the No. 61 overall class in the country.
