Jackson's inconsistent play lands him outside the Big 12's elite. Can he bounce back amid fierce competition and a stacked QB room?

UCF starting quarterback Tayven Jackson had an up-and-down season. At times, like the first quarter against BYU, Jackson looked very comfortable and was able to find a rhythm. \

However, at other times, Jackson was flustered. He struggled immensely on the road, as the Knights went 0-5. Of Jackson's ten passing touchdowns, just three came in opposing team's stadiums. Jackson also scored three times using his legs, all at home.

He finishes the year with 2,151 yards and a 10-8 touchdown to interception ratio.

Jackson's shaky play ranked him 15th among Big 12 quarterbacks, according to PFSN college. The only quarterbacks ranked lower were West Virginia's freshman tandem that both saw time, back-up Arizona State quarterback Jeff Sims and Oklahoma State's Zane Flores.

The quarterback room is likely to be highly contested this upcoming season with Jackson, upcoming seniors Jacurri Brown and Cam Fancher (possible medical redshirt) all set to return. Freshman speedster Davi Belfort is also part of the equation, as head coach Scott Frost and other players have expressed their love for the young signal caller.

4-star quarterback Rocco Marriott is also joining the team as the highest ranked quarterback recruit in UCF history. At 6'4, 220 pounds, Marriott has the build of a starter already and will have his eyes set on doing just that.

Jackson has his work cut out for him if he wants to return as the starting quarterback next season, but he has shown flashes at times. Perhaps another year under Frost will help him become more dependable.
