UCF's Themus Fulks Sets Single-Season Assist Record cover image

Themus Fulks shattered UCF's single-season assist record, orchestrating a dominant win. His court vision fuels the Knights' pursuit of victory.

During UCF's 97-84 rout of No. 19 BYU, fifth-year point guard Themus Fulks added another accolade to his growing list of achievements.

Fulks scored 24 points while dropping 11 dimes. His tenth made history, breaking the UCF single-season record for assists. Fulks now has 185 assists on the year, breaking the previous mark of 183 set by Knights Hall of Famer Sinua Phillips (1991-1992).

Phillips was part of the first UCF squad to make the NCAA Division 1 Tournament, leading the 1994 Golden Knights to a 21-9 record and an Atlantic Sun tournament title. He remains the only player in UCF history to score more than 1,000 points and dish out more than 500 assists, according to UCF Athletics.

Fulks' performance against the Cougars marked his sixth double-digit assist game of the season and his first since mid-January. He is also one of the top assist-guys in the nation, ranking second in the conference and eleventh nationally with 6.9 assists per game.

Despite the Knights' road struggles, Fulks shined, scoring 24 points against both Utah-based squads, while playing the hero against Utah. Against the Utes, Fulks closed a 24-point performance with two game-winning free throws, sealing a 73-71 victory.

Following the game, Fulks told ESPN+ sideline reporter Sammy Miller, "We're trying to win it all."

Prior to that, Fulks filled up the stat sheet in a wire-to-wire victory over TCU - a win that was crucial for keeping the Knights (20-7, 9-6) on the right side of the bubble. UCF's lead guard scored 14 points while dropping seven dimes and notching two steals and a block to down the Horned Frogs 82-71.

Fulks has been the Knights' most efficient player all season, shooting 47.7% from the field and 45% from distance - both career high marks. His 3-point shooting improvement is staggering, jumping nearly 20 full percentage points from last season at Milwaukee (25.9%).

Following the Knights' upset over then-ranked No. 11 Texas Tech Red Raiders, CBS Sports College Basketball Insider Jon Rothstein gave a simple, yet clear message about Fulks.
