'Melo made the comments about the UConn standout on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast.
Speaking on his popular '7PM in Brooklyn' podcast, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony revealed where he'd like to see University of Connecticut standout Azzi Fudd drafted on Tuesday night in the WNBA Draft.
He'd like to see her go No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings. The Wings have the No. 1 pick for the second consecutive year. They took UConn standout Paige Bueckers a year ago and Anthony wants to see the duo reunite.
"I would do that because it's proven. You know what I mean? It ain't like it was like a one-and-done situation and they just came in here and got busy - No, it's proven over four years that we know how to play together, we know how to win, we know each other. So if you can get continuity in the backcourt like that, somebody who's familiar with me, know my ups and downs, know me as a person and you know, outside of basketball... So now the franchise player is bringing in potentially another franchise player. Those are two of the smartest basketball players that's out there too. You're talking about high IQ type of players."
About Fudd
A five-year standout for the Huskies, Fudd played in 115 career games, starting 98 of them. She missed nearly all of her junior season with injury, but came back to huge success in her redshirt junior and senior years. As a redshirt junior, she led the Big East in three-point shooting percentage (43.6) while scoring 13.6 ppg and helping the Huskies win the national championship.
This year, with Bueckers having graduated, she led the Big East in three-point shooting again (44.7 percent) while elevating her game to 17.3 ppg. She led the Huskies to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the Final Four, where they were upended by South Carolina. Fudd was a first-team All-American. She was also a two-time All-Big East selection during her time in Storrs.

If Fudd is drafted No. 1 overall by Dallas, she'll be the seventh former Huskies player to earn the top selection.
Sue Bird (2002), Diana Taurasi (2004), Tina Charles (2010), Maya Moore (2011), Breanna Stewart (2016) and Bueckers (2025) have all had that honor.
Of course, there are others in contention for the top pick, including Lauren Betts, who just helped UCLA to the national title.
