NaVorro Bowman Jr. is the latest top recruit to come to Storrs.

After hosting him last weekend on a recruiting visit, the University of Connecticut men's basketball program has landed another top recruit in NaVorro Bowman Jr.

A five-star guard from Sherman Oaks, Calif., he's ranked No. 12 in the ESPN recruiting rankings for the Class of 2027. The son of former San Francisco 49ers standout linebacker NaVorro Bowman Sr., the younger Bowman even got a reporting note from Adam Schefter on X.

Listed at 6-foot-3, Bowman won a gold medal with the 2026 FIBA U17 team at the World Cup. In seven games, he scored 11.9 ppg while dishing out 3.6 assists and pulling down 2.7 rebounds.

Bowman had been scheduled to visit Texas, Arizona and Illinois this fall, but will clearly be canceling those visits.

How Bowman could fit with the Huskies moving forward

In the era of the transfer portal, leaving early for the NBA Draft, and fifth-year eligibilities, it's difficult to project how a freshman may fit in to a bigger puzzle, but someone as highly-touted as Bowman will absolutely have the ability to contribute right away.

Right now, the Huskies are a guard-oriented team, but Braylon Mullins is expected to leave for the NBA at the conclusion of the 2026-27 season provided he remains healthy. Silas Demary Jr. and Solo Ball could both return next season, making things a little more complex for Bowman, but Demary could also head to the NBA. Ball is expected to return to school as he rehabs an injury this season.

About NaVorro Bowman Sr.

Now 38 years old, Bowman was a third-round pick of the 49ers in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Penn State. A seven-year veteran of the 49ers and Oakland Raiders, he was a three-time Pro Bowler and a four-time First-Team All-Pro. A linebacker, he had 14.0 career sacks, five interceptions and six fumble recoveries. He played in the playoffs each year from 2011-13 and helped the 49ers reach the NFC title game against the Seattle Seahawks.

He played for Jim Harbaugh.

Elsewhere on the recruiting trail

With Bowman in the fold, the Huskies can turn their attention to trying to land the son of another former NFL player: Demarcus Henry, the son of former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry. He is a consensus Top-5 recruit in the Class of 2027 and will be on campus visiting this week. He is down to a final eight schools as of earlier this summer.

He's listed at 6-foot-7.
