Ex-Huskies WR, Coach Kashif Moore Reportedly Accepts Big Ten Job cover image

Moore coached wide receivers at UConn the past three seasons before following Jim Mora to Colorado State. He appears to be on the move again.

A former UConn wide receiver turned position coach reportedly has found a new job in the Big Ten.

Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported Monday that Kashif Moore is headed to Penn State as part of new head coach Matt Campbell’s staff. He will serve as the wide receivers coach, according to the report.

Moore, 37, played at UConn from 2008-11 and was named a team captain as a senior. When he graduated, he was among the top 10 in program history with 126 receptions.

In 50 career games, he gained 1,699 yards (13.5 yards per reception) while recording 13 touchdowns. He added one rushing TD.

After college, he signed NFL contracts with the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. A practice squad player, he never appeared in a league game.

Transition to coaching

He took his first coaching job at a high school under his former receivers coach at UConn, Matt Cersosimo, and served on his staff from 2019-20. During the pandemic, Moore assisted with player development at Wesleyan, where the season was canceled.

Moore coached running backs at Cornell in 2021 and wide receivers at Albany in 2022 before former UConn coach Jim Mora hired him in 2023 to return to his alma mater.

In 2024, Moore coached a pair of 54-catch receivers – TJ Sheffield, who gained 505 yards, and Skyler Bell, whose receptions totaled 860 yards.

And in 2025, Bell had an All-America season and became a Biletnikoff Award finalist after a season in which he caught 101 passes for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns – all among the highest in the nation.

Moore followed Mora to Colorado State, which will make its debut in the reimagined Pac-12 this fall. Now, apparently, Moore has chosen to leave for a nationally prominent program.

The UConn staff

New UConn head coach Jason Candle has hired Kerry Dixon to coach the wide receivers in 2026.

He has a varied history that includes stops coaching running backs at Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Montana State and Toledo, where he spent one season on Candle’s staff. He coached wide receivers at Florida, Georgia Tech and Kent State.

He also was on the staff of the Baltimore Ravens for two seasons.
