The WNBA stars were honored by the AP on Sunday as the league's playoffs get going.
The WNBA Playoffs officially kick off on Sunday with eight teams vying for the league championship.
However, before the games get started, four UConn Huskies women's basketball alums were honored by the Associated Press with their league awards.
It should be noted that these are not the official league awards, so they don't do much other than provide additional validation for the former Huskies. That said, any time you are honored by a national media outlet, it's a good thing.
AP WNBA First-Team: Breanna Stewart
The 32-year-old star for the New York Liberty averaged 20.8 ppg this season, her most since 2023. In 42 games, she also averaged 8.3 rebounds per game and 3.3 assists. The Liberty are the No. 8 seed.
In addition to being accomplished at the WNBA level, she is one of the best players in Huskies history. A four-year standout, Stewart was a national champion in all four seasons. She was also a three-time All-American, a three-time AP Player of the Year, a three-time American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and a three-time All-Region selection. She was the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament in all four seasons and averaged 17.6 ppg for her career. She played for the Huskies during both the Big East and AAC years.
She became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm. She is an eight-time All-Star and a two-time MVP.
AP WNBA Second-Team: Paige Bueckers
The second-year player was the No. 1 pick of the Dallas Wings in 2025 and led the Wings to a great turnaround and a playoff berth (No. 7 seed) in 2026. She averaged 20.9 ppg and 5.9 assists. The Rookie of the Year a season ago, she's already a two-time All-Star.
One of the most decorated players in UConn history, Bueckers averaged 19.8 ppg for her career in Storrs. She helped the Huskies win the national title for the 12th time in 2024-25 as she averaged 19.9 ppg.
A three-time Big East Player of the Year, she was also a Naismith Award Winner, a Wooden Award winner, a three-time All-American and a winner of the Wade Trophy.

The 30-year-old member of the Golden State Valkyries averaged 14.4 ppg and 3.3 rebounds this season. She's a two-time All-Star and the former No. 4 pick in the WNBA Draft. Golden State is the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.
Also an international standout for France, Williams was a four-year standout for the Huskies, crossing over with Stewart for two of those national titles (2015-16). She started 85 games in Storrs, getting named Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. She was also a two-time Associated Press All-American and a two-time All-AAC selection. She averaged 10.6 ppg for her career and was drafted by the Chicago Sky.
All-Rookie Team: Azzi Fudd
Fudd, who previously won a national title at UConn and led the Huskies to the Final Four last season, was the No. 1 pick of the Wings in 2026. Unfortunately, she played only 30 games before a knee injury ended her season. She averaged 13.1 ppg and 1.8 assists while shooting 39.7 percent from 3-point range.
