The Major League Baseball Draft kicks off on Saturday in Philadelphia, so just how many Huskies have been selected?
The Major League Baseball Draft kicks off on Saturday (1 p.m. ET) in Philadelphia as a precursor to MLB's All-Star festivities.
The draft has been shortened from 40 rounds to 20 rounds in recent years and is now a two-day event instead of three.
The first four rounds will happen on Saturday and rounds 5-20 will happen on Sunday.
Multiple University of Connecticut baseball players have a chance to hear their names called over the weekend, but let's take a look back at how many have been drafted in the past.
According to 'The Baseball Cube,' 126 Huskies players have been selected since 1965.

--A 13-year veteran of the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays, Springer is a four-time All-Star, a three-time Silver Slugger and a World Series champion. He won the World Series MVP Award with Houston in 2017 and is a career .265 hitter with 302 home runs. He's in the final year of a six-year deal with Toronto and will be a free agent after the season.
--A 14-year veteran of the Cleveland franchise and the San Diego Padres, Nagy spent 13 years with Cleveland, helping them get to the World Series in 1995 and 1997, where they lost to the Atlanta Braves and Florida Marlins. He was 129-105 for his career with a 4.51 ERA, earning All-Star appearances in 1992, 1996 and 1999.
--An 11-year veteran of the Boston Red Sox, Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals, Barnes racked up 47 saves in his career and helped the Red Sox win the World Series in 2018. He was an All-Star in 2021 after he assumed the closer's duty. He went 33-30 in his career with a 4.21 ERA.

A career .233 hitter, he has 72 home runs to his name.
--Taken No. 1 overall by the Blue Jays in 1980, McLaughlin never reached the major leagues. He played in the minors from 1980-89 with the Blue Jays and Mariners affiliates, going 50-56 with a 4.54 ERA.
