Na'jai Hines is coming in from Seton Hall, and he'll look to make an impact on the Huskies program in 2026-27.
Heading into the 2026-27 men's college basketball season, the UConn Huskies are known to have excellent guard play, especially in the starting backcourt.
In fact, the tandem of Silas Demary Jr. and Braylon Mullins may be the best starting backcourt in the nation, and the depth at the position behind them is strong too.
The Huskies also figure to be strong on the wings, and they should be equipped with good outside shooting as a result, but as we outlined on Monday, the biggest question for Dan Hurley's team lies on the interior.
After losing Tarris Reed Jr. (graduation) and Eric Reibe (transfer), the Huskies have uncertainty at the post positions. Can they score down low? Do they have bigs that can take attention away from the guards, or will teams just be able to devote all their energy to making life difficult on the perimeter?
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports is likely thinking along the same lines as us, as he named incoming transfer center Na'jai Hines (6-foot-10) as his biggest 'X-Factor' for the Huskes next season.
About Hines
He comes to Storrs after a season with the Pirates, where he averaged 6.5 ppg and 5.5 rebounds. He also blocked 2.2 shots in 18 minutes a game. As noted by Rothstein, when he plays more than 20 minutes a game, his numbers improve to 10 points and eight rebounds a night.
The Huskies will need that kind of productivity to alleviate the pressure on all the guards and wing players they'll have in this campaign.

Another transfer that should see time is the 6-foot-10 Oskar Giltay, who comes in from Stanford.
Giltay is a Belgium native who played in 32 games for the Cardinal this past season. In addition to his height, he's listed at 235 pounds. He played just under 15 minutes a game for Stanford.
He averaged 3.3 ppg and 4.1 rebounds in those almost-15 minutes, meaning he's certainly proficient on the glass.
And there's 7-footer Elmir Dzafic, who has transferred in from Arkansas. He played just 16 minutes in seven games at Arkansas.
About the Huskies
UConn is coming off a season in which it finished second in the Big East in the regular season and were the runner-ups in the Big East Tournament. Despite that, the Huskies rolled through the NCAA Tournament, beating Duke in the Elite 8 and winning against Illinois in the Final Four.
They eventually lost to Michigan in the national title game and have been to three title games in the last four years.
