The Baltimore Ravens toppled the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday afternoon as Fagnano continued to see solid action.
Much like he did last week in the preseason opener, University of Connecticut football alum Joe Fagnano showed out on Saturday for the Baltimore Ravens as they beat the Minnesota Vikings.
The Ravens won 13-3, moving to 2-0 this preseason, with Fagnano leading the way offensively. He went 15-of-20 for 123 yards and a touchdown. He did not throw an interception and had a quarterback rating of 105.9.
While Tyler Huntley went 5-of-8, Fagnano appears to be a big part of what the Ravens are going to do over the next few years. Though he went undrafted in this year's NFL Draft, Fagnano signed a three-year deal with Baltimore after the draft.
It seems likely that Huntley will be the direct backup to Lamar Jackson, but it also seems likely that they will carry three quarterbacks.
About Fagnano in college
Fagnano spent seven seasons in college (2019-25), taking full advantage of redshirt years and COVID exemptions. He played four years at the University of Maine and then spent three years at UConn, serving as the starter in 2024 and 2025. Last season, he completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,448 yards. He had 28 touchdowns against just one interception and a passer rating of 161.0.
The accuracy that he's shown in the preseason directly correlates to what we saw in those three years with the Huskies.
UConn went 9-3 in the 2025 regular season and earned a spot in the Fenway Bowl, which it lost to Army. He did not play in that bowl game. The Huskies finished 9-4.
Fagnano paired with All-American wide receiver Skyler Bell and dynamic running back Cam Edwards to create a three-headed monster on offense.

As a result, UConn will be forced to find all new answers on offense. The quarterback battle appears to be down to Jacob Merklinger and Kalieb Osborne. There are several intriguing running backs, including Kenji Christian.
Up next for the Huskies
UConn will continue to finish out training camp over the next week or so, and then they will transition into game preparation.
Jason Candle's group begins its season on Sept. 5 at home against Lafayette. Candle has taken over for Jim Mora, who left to take a job at Colorado State. Candle was the previous head coach at Toledo.
