Will another big man commit to the Huskies? Here is how the 2026-27 team looks at this point.
Soon after the opening of the transfer portal last month, UConn had no big men on the roster.
Could head coach Dan Hurley, who has added two post players through the transfer portal, be on the verge of bringing in a third?
Sam Kayser of League Ready reported that a still-undeclared Class of 2026 prospect was set to visit campus Tuesday. Vuk Lazarevic, a 7-foot-1 Serbia native who spent the 2025-26 season at the Wasatch Academy in Utah, is making that visit to Storrs, Conn., per Kayser.
"One of the most underrated prospects in 2026," Kayser shared to X on Tuesday.
About Vuk Lazarevic
Lazarevic is 18 and played internationally in his native Serbia. Last summer he announced his transfer to Wasatch Academy, a college preparatory boarding school in Mount Pleasant, Utah.
“I’m excited to announce my commitment to Wasatch Academy! A huge thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey with Red Star Belgrade, he wrote. “Playing for such a legendary club has been an incredible experience, and I’m ready for this next chapter in the United States. "
The school does not play a typical schedule. Instead Wasatch competes in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic in regional and national tournaments. The players are exposed to some of the best competition in the nation.
One of his teammates in Utah, Junior County, is committed to the UConn Class of 2026. County was named by 247Sports as the No. 7 shooting guard in the nation.
Lazarevic does not have a rating from the service.
UConn goings
A lot has happened with the UConn roster since the Huskies lost to Michigan, 69-63, in the national championship game on April 6.
A quick reminder of who will not be back with the Huskies in 2026-27.
Out of eligibility: forwards Alex Karaban and Dwayne Koroma, center Tarris Reed Jr., and guards Alec Millender and Malachi Smith.
To the transfer portal: forward Jaylin Stewart, centers Eric Reibe and Rrezon Elezaj, and guards Uros Paunovic and Jacob Furphy. Stewart has signed with SMU, Reibe with Southern California and Furphy with Boston College. The 7-foot-2 Elezaj and 6-foot-3 Paunovic remain uncommitted.
Taking a medical redshirt: guard Solo Ball. He will return for the 2027-28 season, his final season of eligibility.
UConn comings
To date, UConn has replaced the departing players with two incoming freshmen and four transfers. They are:
- Junior County, 6-foot-4 guard, Wasatch Academy (Mount Pleasant, Utah).
- Colben Landrew, 6-6 smal forward, Wheeler High School (Marietta, Ga.) He is listed as the No. 8 player at his position by 247Sports.
- Oskar Gitay, 6-10 center. Transfer from Stanford.
- Najai Hines, 6-10 center. Transfer from Seton Hall.
- Nikolas Khamenia, 6-8 small forward, transfer from Duke.
- Nils Machowski, 6-3 shooting guard. Transfer from Wofford.
UConn returnees
Here's the core of returning players around which UConn is building the roster.
- 6-6 guard Braylon Mullins
- 6-4 guard Silas Demary Jr.
- 6-7 forward Jayden Ross
- 6-5 forward Jacob Ross
Mullins, the shooting guard, and point guard Demary are poised to be one of the best backcourts in the nation. Jayden Ross, a rising senior, also is expected to play a key role.
