The Huskies, who lost against No. 4 Arizona earlier this week, could be back to full strength soon, which is a scary proposition for the rest of the country.

Brady Farkas on Tarris Reed Jr. and Braylon Mullins potentially returning to the lineup on Friday.

The No. 3 University of Connecticut men's basketball team rolled over Bryant of the America East Conference 72-49 on Sunday night, moving to 5-1 on the young season.

It was a nice bounce back for UConn, which lost to No. 4 Arizona earlier this week at Gampel Pavilion. It was also a nice win considering that the Huskies continue to play shorthanded. Big man Tarris Reed Jr. did not play again and uber-freshman Braylon Mullins remained out.

Both players have ankle injuries.

However, things could look much different for Dan Hurley's team at the end of the week, as both players could be back on Friday when UConn takes on Illinois at Madison Square Garden.

Davis Borges of CTInsider.com had that information on "X." Both players are listed as game-time decisions right now.

About Reed

A 6'11 senior, Reed transferred in from Michigan before the 2024-25 season. The Big East Sixth Man of the Year a season ago, he's a St. Louis native who is averaging 20.0 ppg in three games this season. He's also averaging more than nine rebounds.

About Mullins

A freshman from Greenfield, Indiana, Mullins is 6-feet-6-inches tall. He comes in with a major pedigree, having been named a McDonald's All-American in high school, where he was also "Mr. Basketball" in the state of Indiana.

From his UConn page:

ranked as a consensus five-star prospect, checking in at No. 12 in the 247 Sports rankings, No. 15 on the 247 Composite, No. 15 by On3 and No. 17 on the ESPN100…as a senior, led Greenfield-Central to a 23-4 record and averaged 32.9 points. 7.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.7 steals per game while shooting over 47 percent from 3-point range

It's unclear how he'll be used upon his return and how much he may need to work into the rotation, but his activation will be an exciting thing for Huskies fans who have heard the hype. With this kind of attention, there's a chance he could be taken in next summer's NBA Draft, assuming he plays well for Hurley.

Up next

The schedule for UConn is about to get very difficult, as the Huskies will see Illinois on Friday (Nov. 28), before traveling to Kansas (Dec. 2). They'll play an easier contest against East Texas A&M before also battling Florida (Dec. 9) and Texas (Dec. 12).

Then, it's time for the start of Big East play with Butler coming to Hartford on Dec. 16.
