The sharpshooter has a personal dominance against Xavier.

The University of Connecticut women's basketball team rolled over another Big East foe on Wednesday night, dismantling Xavier 97-39 at Gampel Pavilion.

It was a big night for the program, as it inducted Aaliyah Edwards into the Huskies of Honor in a pregame ceremony. On top of that, the first 600 fans received a Geno Auriemma commemorative bobblehead.

Within the game, it was a huge night for Allie Ziebell, who usually takes a back seat to the likes of Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd in the scoring department.

Ziebell scored a game-high 34 points and hit 10 three-pointers, which tied her for the most three-pointers in a single game in school history.

There's just something about Xavier that brings out the best in Ziebell, as noted by the program on "X."

Allie Ziebell has made 5 three pointers 3 times in her UConn career

they've all come against Xavier (1/8/25, 11/30/25, 1/28/26)

About Ziebell

A sophomore from Wisconsin, Ziebell is averaging 7.5 ppg this season to go along with 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. She's scored in double-figures in back-to-back games and has hit the mark five times this season. Her previous season-high was 16, also against Xavier, on Nov. 30, 2025.

She helped the Huskies win the national championship as a freshman and will have a chance to help them repeat again in this campaign. UConn is a perfect 22-0.

Up next

Ziebell and her teammates will get another chance to show their dominance on Sunday afternoon in a big-time matchup with Tennessee. That game will be played at noon ET. One of the most storied programs in the sport, the Volunteers are currently ranked No. 15. They are 14-3 and a perfect 6-0 in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play. Tennessee has been to the NCAA Tournament 43 times and has won eight championships, most recently in 2008.

--The UConn men's basketball team is coming off another tough win against Providence, the second this season. The Huskies, ranked No. 2 nationally, will take on Creighton on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET. The men are 20-1 this season and a perfect 10-0 inside Big East play.

--Huskies football alums Joe Fagnano and Skyler Bell recently participated in the East-West Shrine Game, with Fagnano receiving high marks for his performance. Both players are possible NFL draft choices, with Bell looking like a sure selection at wide receiver. He was named an All-American in 2025.
