The Huskies will make their first foray into Michigan in November.
Tinkering with the UConn women’s basketball 2026-27 nonconference schedule continues, with the latest addition announced Wednesday.
UConn and Michigan will meet in a home-and-home series beginning this fall. The Wolverines get the first home game, scheduled for Nov. 5 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor.
Michigan will visit Connecticut in the 2027-28 season, with the game date and location still to be announced.
The November game, surprisingly, will be the first in the state of Michigan for UConn.
The Huskies and Wolverines met for the first time ever in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase on Nov. 25, 2025. Ranked No. 1 at the time, UConn defeated the then-No. 6 Huskies 72-69 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
The Wolverines finished 28-7 on the recently completed season, 17-1 in their home arena. They lost to Texas in the Elite Eight of the Women’s NCAA Tournament.
The Huskies lost to South Carolina in a national semifinal game to finish the season 38-1.
The top five scorers from Michigan’s 2025-26 team will be returning: Olivia Olson (18.9 points per game), Syla Swords (14.6), Mila Holloway (12.3), Te'Yala Delfosse (8.7) and Ashley Sofilkanich (7.7).
Olson and Swords were first-team All-Big Ten selections.
UConn’s returners are headlined by consensus All-American and National Player of the Year Sarah Strong, who led the Huskies with 18.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 1.6 blocks. Also returning is point guard KK Arnold (6.9 points, team-high 4.6 assists), along with Blanca Quinonez (10.7 points), Ashlynn Shade (7.6), Allie Ziebell (7.2) and Kayleigh Heckel (6.9).

Elliot Van Strydonck has been added as an assistant field hockey coach.
He represented Belgium at two Olympic Games and helped to establish his country as an international field hockey force.
"I'm officially ending my playing career in three weeks to embark on this exciting adventure with UConn," Van Strydonck said. "The team and staff really appealed to me, and I am ready to be a resource and help this program win. My goal as a player was always to strive for championships, and I want to bring that same drive and mentality to my role as assistant coach."
He has been a coach with Belgium’s national team in the U16 through U21 ages. He also has experience coaching at the club-team level.
"Elliot brings world-class experience, highlighted by two Olympic Games and a silver medal, along with proven defensive leadership and a deep understanding of high-performance environments," said Paul Caddy, UConn’s head coach. "His journey with Belgium's rise on the international stage, combined with his passion for athlete development and mindset, will have a powerful impact on our program. We're thrilled to welcome him to the UConn family."
The Huskies finished the 2025 season with a 12-9 (6-1 Big East) record and lost to Harvard 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 16.
