UConn and Gray Media’s Channel 3 WFSB, WFSB+ and sister station WWAX entered into a five-year agreement with UConn.

UConn has extended its media partnership with Gray Media’s Channel 3 WFSB, WFSB+ and sister station WWAX for five years.

Financial terms were not announced.

The goal of the extended partnership is to offer UConn sports fans living in the state even greater access to the Huskies on the court or field of play.

"We are excited to build on what has already been a tremendous partnership with WFSB-3 and WWAX," said David Benedict, UConn athletic director. "This expanded agreement means UConn fans across every platform will have greater access to the athletes and programs that make UConn Nation so special. That is a win for our fans and our entire UConn community."

These are the details of the agreement, according to a news release issued by the university. It says Channel 3 WFSB, WFSB+ and WWAX will deliver the following:

  • 54 men's and women's pregame basketball shows: Joe Zone and Erin Connolly will host the pregame show, which “will provide in-depth analysis, player features, and expert commentary to get fans ready for tipoff.”
  •  “UConn Unleashed” college sports specials: A monthly program that showcases teams, athletes and their stories, from across the breadth of Huskies sports.
  • UConn football and basketball game broadcasts:  The media partners will have the option to broadcast specified Huskies football and basketball programs.
  • Eyewitness News team at every home football game: The Channel 3 WFSB Eyewitness News team will be on-site at every UConn home football game, and fans will have the opportunity to meet the anchors and other staff.

"Connecting with communities will always remain central to our mission," said David Hughes, the general manager of Channel 3 WFSB and WWAX. "UConn Athletics is a source of tremendous pride for the people of Connecticut, and we are thrilled to expand our partnership and bring even more Husky coverage to our viewers."
