The Huskies teased a new uniform on April Fools Day, but it turns out, there really was a new uniform in the plans.
Back on April 1, the University of Connecticut football account on "X" teased a new alternate uniform for the upcoming season.
The all baby blue uniforms actually looked quite cool and got good feedback, but again, they were just an April Fools joke.
However, the program really did reveal a new alternate uniform on Wednesday, but this combination features a red jersey with white pants.
The team will wear a white helmet with these uniforms. There has been no information given as to which games these uniforms will be worn for, or how often they will be worn, but they are certainly a clean look that highlights one of UConn's longstanding accent colors.
UConn typically wears blue tops with blue helmets, though they have worn white helemts before. They wore a white helmet with a "Block C" during last year's Fenway Bowl, which they lost to Army. While the helmet isn't fully visible in the following photo, it appears that you can see the traditional Husky logo on the side.
When could UConn wear these uniforms?
Well, these uniforms will presumably only be worn at home, which means there will be seven chances to wear them this season. The Huskies have seven home games and five road games as part of their 12-game schedule under new head coach Jason Candle.

As chronicled by our own Jami Leabow on Wednesday, the Huskies still have yet to name a new starting quarterback for the season opener. It seems to be a battle between Tennessee transfer Jake Merklinger and Toledo transfer Kalieb Osborne.
Osborne obviously has familiarity with Candle, who coached him at Toledo.
A rising redshirt sophomore who appeared in four games for Tennessee in 2025, Merklinger hails from Savannah, Ga. He went 13-of-24 for 173 yards for two touchdowns and no interceptions last season.
Osborne was a three-star recruit out of Waterford Mott (Mich.) High School in the Class of 2024 and redshirted that season. In 2025, the 6-foot-3, 204-pound Osborne appeared in seven games with the Rockets, completing 32 of 52 passes (61.54%) for 427 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

In a summer full of coaching and administrative changes, the UConn men's basketball team got another one on Tuesday night, as it was reported that former graduate assistant Rich Kelly has taken a position with the Boston Celtics.
As noted by CT Insider, Kelly will work with the Maine Celtics, the G-League affiliate of Boston.
Kelly played college basketball from 2017-22, playing for both Quinnipiac and Boston College. With Quinnipiac, he made the MAAC All-Rookie team in 2018, and he was a Second-Team All-Conference selection in 2019 and 2020. After Quinnipiac, he transferred to BC, where he averaged 13 ppg. He joined Dan Hurley's staff afterwards, serving as a graduate assistant.
He helped the Huskies win the national title in 2024.
