While the Huskies are taking on Miami (Ohio) this weekend, they learned something about their 2029 schedule earlier this week.
After a big win against Southern Mississippi last Saturday, the UConn Huskies football team is now 2-1 on the young campaign.
Now, with that win behind them, the Huskies are readying for a tough road task against Miami (Ohio) in Oxford this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The Redhawks are 1-2 on the season and are coming off a very difficult loss against in-state rival Cincinnati. Miami had a 21-point lead before ultimately losing 35-31.
This will be an interesting matchup considering there is familiarity on both sides. UConn head coach Jason Candle has had multiple matchups with Miami over the last several years, including in the 2023 MAC Championship game. Candle was 3-1 against the Redhawks in his time at Toledo, with his only loss coming in that game.
And while the primary task at hand is the most important thing, the Huskies did get an interesting schedule note about their future earlier this week.
What's the situation with UMass?
As noted by FBSSchedules.com, UConn and UMass agreed to extend their meetings through the 2027 season back in 2022.
Well, the 2025 matchup didn't happen because UMass joined the MAC and had to amend its schedule. As a result, the Huskies and UMass will make up that game on Aug. 25, 2029 in East Hartford.
The two teams will play this Oct. 23.

The Huskies currently have five home opponents scheduled for 2029: They are Wyoming, Duke, Boston College and Southern Miss.
On the road, UConn will play Purdue, Rutgers and Buffalo.
The Huskies will eventually have a 12-game schedule that we will clearly learn more about at later dates.
Sticking with UConn football
Huskies football alum Joe Fagnano, who helped re-write the record books with his quarterback play in 2025, is currently a member of the Baltimore Ravens. Fagnano serves as the third-string quarterback behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, and we are at least curious if there's a chance that a quarterback-needy team could try to trade for him and bump him up their depth chart.
So far this season, the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Commanders, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, and Chicago Bears have all had to go to their backups at one point. And it's only been two weeks.
Fagnano led the NFL in passing yards and completions in the preseason and after seven years of college football, he clearly has game reps and experience under his belt.
