Former University of Connecticut women's basketball standout Paige Bueckers is one of three former Huskies players who will play in the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game, which is Sunday in Chicago.

Bueckers, Breanna Stewart and Gabby Williams will join former Huskies standout Azzi Fudd at All-Star Weekend, as she'll be a part of the league's three-point contest on Friday night.

Bueckers and Fudd have turned into a solid guard duo for surprising Dallas Wings, who are currently in fourth place in the Western Conference at 18-9. With regards to Bueckers, she's also made her history through her first 25 games of the season.

As noted by DraftKings on Thursday, Bueckers only needed 25 games to score 500 points, pull down 100 rebounds and dish out 150 assists this season. That makes her the fastest player in league history to hit those numbers in a single season.

She surpassed former Huskies standout Diana Taurasi, who did that in 26 games in 2013 and Sabrina Ionescu, who did it in 26 games in 2024. Rookie Olivia Miles has also done it this season, albeit in 26 games as well.

Simply put, Bueckers is one of the best players in the league already, in just her second year. But it's something that Huskies fans could have easily seen coming.

One of the most decorated players in UConn history, Bueckers averaged 19.8 ppg for her career in Storrs. She helped UConn win the national title for the 12th time in 2024-25 as she averaged 19.9 ppg. A three-time Big East Player of the Year, she was also a Naismith Award Winner, a Wooden Award winner, a three-time All-American and a winner of the Wade Trophy.

In addition to being the No. 1 pick of Dallas in 2025, she captured the league's Rookie of the Year Award last season.

Bueckers averaged 19.2 ppg with the Wings in her first season (36 games). She also averaged 5.4 assists per game. 

She was recently selected to the Team USA roster for the FIBA World Cup and is tracking toward a berth on her first Olympic team. The next Olympics are in 2028 (Los Angeles).

A foundational figure in program history, Taurasi won three NCAA titles with the Huskies while also earning three All-America selections. She was the AP Player of the Year in 2003, won two Naismith Awards, two Big East Player of the Year Awards and was a Wade Award Winner. She averaged 15.0 ppg in her career while shooting 39.2 percent from three-point range.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft, she is also one of the most prominent figures in league history, having spent her entire career with the Phoenix Mercury.

She also won six Olympic Gold Medals.
