The Big East revealed the men's basketball conference schedule on Monday, with a late-season visit from St. John's among the big dates for the Huskies.
The UConn Huskies men’s basketball will begin the Big East portion of the 2026-27 schedule with two games before the start of the new year – a home game against Georgetown on Dec. 23 and a road game at Butler on New Year’s Eve.
The program announced the 20 conference games for the upcoming season on Monday. UConn finished last season with a 34-6 record and as the national runner-up to Michigan.
In the Big East, their record was 17-3. Losses on the road to St. John’s and Marquette, and an upset by Creighton at home, denied the Huskies a perfect conference season.
The Big East schedule
The Big East is a 20-game round robin that will end March 6 at Xavier. Coach Dan Hurley’s team can expect the physical play that has come to define the Big East, with teams always gearing up to play the Huskies.
Notable games on the schedule include:
- Jan. 3 at Creighton, where UConn will want to repay the Bluejays for last season’s loss
- The return of transfer center Na’jai Hines to Seton Hall – where Hurley played his college basketball -- on Jan. 9
- The first game of the season against St. John’s, to be played at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 29
- A Super Bowl appetizer against Villanova on Feb. 14 – not only Super Bowl Sunday but Valentine’s Day.
- And a St. John's visit to UConn on March 2, which could decide the Big East championship.
The overall schedule
UConn has probably the most difficult non-conference schedule in the nation, with games against Kansas and Ohio State at home, Arizona and Illinois on their home court, and Michigan, Duke and Virginia on neutral sites.
Arizona, Illinois and Michigan joined UConn in reaching the Final Four in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
UConn eliminated Duke in the Elite Eight, the 73-72 win that made Braylon Mullins a household name.
Kansas, Ohio State and Virginia all were NCAA Tournament teams.
