The Huskies will play No. 15 seed Texas A&M in opening-round action.

The UConn softball team is heading to the Lone Star State.

The Huskies (31-26) earned their way to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Big East tournament this weekend in Rosemont, Ill.

Their reward is a first-round matchup with the No. 15 overall seed, Texas A&M (36-17), in College Station, Texas. Also meeting in the Bryan-College Station Regional are Arizona State (41-16) and McNeese (40-20).

The NCAA Tournament bracket was released Sunday night.

All of the opening-round games will be played Friday. The clash between Texas A&M and UConn is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will air on ESPN2. Arizona State and McNeese are set to play at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN+.

UConn is in the tournament for the second consecutive season. In 2025, in the regional in Baton Rouge, La., the Huskies lost to Nebraska and LSU to force their elimination.

Each regional is double elimination. The winners of the two games will play in the winners bracket; the losers will play each other, with the 0-2 team eliminated.

The team that stands 2-0 after the first two rounds moves automatically to the championship. The two other remaining teams will face off, with the winner advancing to the championship round.

Who else is in the tournament?

Below is the “bracket” listing the 64 tournament teams, presented in a format that’s easy to follow. The number in front of the name of the first team listed in the regional represents the 16 top seeds, with each serving as the site host.
