March Madness is coming, with both Huskies teams potentially in line for No. 1 seeds.

The UConn women again are the unanimous No. 1 team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, never wavering from the top spot from the preseason to the end of the regular season.

The men’s poll, also released Monday, sent the Huskies up two spots to No. 4 – exactly where they placed in the preseason poll. Throughout the season, the Huskies have been as high as No. 2 and as low as No. 6.

Duke is No. 1, followed by Arizona and Michigan.

What’s next

The UConn women next will play in the Big East conference tournament. At 31-0 (20-0), the Huskies are the only undefeated Division I women’s team in the nation and a favorite to win the tourney, which begins Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. It’s all but a home event for UConn, with the arena located about 45 minutes south of campus.

The Huskies are the No. 1 seed and automatically will advance to the quarterfinal round. They will meet the winner of the first-round game between No. 8 Georgetown and No. 9 Butler at noon on Saturday.

For the men (27-3, 17-2), they have the week to prepare for their regular-season finale on Saturday at Marquette. The Huskies defeated the Golden Eagles at home on Jan. 4, 73-57.

Head coach Dan Hurley’s Huskies, who won two of the past three national championships, will need to wait to find out their tournament seeding. St. John’s also has two conference losses with two games to play. They will host Georgetown on Tuesday and conclude their season Friday at Seton Hall.

The No. 1 seed will be determined by the results of the remaining conference games involving UConn and St. John’s. If the teams finish tied, the conference will utilize tiebreakers.

The men's tournament will be played March 11-14 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Selection Sunday follows on March 15.
