So far, the University of Connecticut men's basketball program has received a lot of national discussion for its incredibly challenging schedule in 2026-27.

Guided by Dan Hurley, the men's program will play Duke, Virginia, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio State. Michigan and Illinois were both in the Final Four a season ago, with UConn beating Illinois in the semifinals and then losing to Michigan in the finals. 

However, it's time to start taking stock of just how difficult the UConn women's schedule is going to be as well.

In addition to its Big East conference slate, the Huskies are also set to play Michigan, South Carolina, Duke, Maryland and LSU. South Carolina eliminated the Huskies in the Final Four this season before losing to UCLA in the national title game.

And on Tuesday, it was announced that UConn is adding Iowa to its schedule also in a home-and-home series. The two teams will play in Storrs next season and in Iowa in 2027-28. The UConn women's basketball "X" account noted that next season's game will be on Nov. 8. 

One of the most popular teams in the nation because of the influence of Caitlin Clark, the Hawkeyes went 27-7 this past season and 15-3 in Big Ten play.

They advanced to the Big Ten title game, losing to UCLA before ultimately losing in the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament against Virginia (83-75).

These two teams met this past season as well, with UConn winning 90-64 on Dec. 20, 2025. UConn was ranked No. 1 while Iowa was No. 11.

Azzi Fudd, who recently put up a historic game in the WNBA, scored a game-high 27 points for the Huskies while Sarah Strong, who won the National Player of the Year Award, had 23 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Blanca Quinonez had 10. She just had surgery but is expected to be ready for the start of next season.

--Last week, it was announced that the Boston Celtics are bringing in UConn standout Alex Karaban for a pre-draft workout. The Celtics have been linked to Tarris Reed Jr. in mock drafts also, meaning that Huskies fans could have multiple reasons to adopt the Celtics as their team in 2026-27.

The Celtics own draft picks No. 27 and No. 40 in the NBA Draft, so it's conceivable that they could land both Huskies stars, but Karaban has said that he wants to be a first round pick, so we'll see if he ultimately gets there next month.

The draft begins on June 23.
