Geno Auriemma's team will take on Texas on Monday night at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford.

The UConn Huskies women's basketball program got some good news on the injury front on Saturday, with head coach Geno Auriemma saying that guard Allie Ziebell will be back in action on Monday night when the Huskies take on Texas at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford (7 p.m. ET).

Ziebell has been sidelined by an ankle injury in this preseason and did not play in Monday's exhibition win against the Syracuse Orange at Mohegan Sun Arena.

While the news on Ziebell was good, the news was status quo on Blanca Quinonez and Marine Dursus. They won't play, but Auriemma indicated that the duo was making solid progress.

Quinonez had two surgeries in the offseason and is working back. Auriemma said she is on the right timeline for her shoulder recovery.

The Allie Ziebell file

A junior from Wisconsin, Ziebell has played in 72 games over the last two seasons, helping UConn win the national title in 2024-25. She played 18 minutes a game last season, averaging 7.2 ppg and 1.6 rebounds. She also averaged 1.2 assists and nearly a steal.

Because of the new "age-based eligibility" model, she has three more years of eligibility if she wants to take advantage of it.

She'll pair with KK Arnold, Ashlynn Shade, and Jovana Popovic to make up the UConn backcourt. She shot 41.1 percent from three-point range, which could be a big help to a UConn team that was just 3-of-23 from deep in the win over the Orange.

The Huskies went 38-1 last season, only losing in the national semifinal to South Carolina.

The Blanca Quinonez file

A rising sophomore from Ecuador, Quinonez was one of the most impactful players on the Huskies group a season ago. At 6-foot-2, she played alongside Sarah Strong in the frontcourt, giving UConn one of the best frontcourts in the entire nation. In 31 games, she averaged 10.7 ppg and 3.1 rebounds while also dishing out 2.1 assists.

She shot 53.6 percent from the floor and 39.5 percent from three-point range, taking nearly three 3's per night.

With Azzi Fudd now gone to the WNBA, Quinonez should take an even more outsized role in the offense.

The Marine Dursus file

Dursus is a freshman from France, who is part of the new international recruiting pipeline that UConn is forming. She has represented the French Youth National Team since 2021 and has played in U20, U18 and U17 international events.
