Ice Brady announced her new home earlier this week, but she won't be able to suit up there until 2027-28.

Earlier this week, former University of Connecticut women's basketball player Ice Brady announced that she was going to play at Florida State moving forward. Brady entered the transfer portal when it opened up in early April.

However, Brady will have to wait more than a full calendar year to suit up for the Seminoles, as she's still recovering from a knee surgery that she had in February of this year.

Due to a season-ending injury as a redshirt junior, Brady will sit out the 2026-27 season and join the team for 2027-28. She is set to graduate from UConn in May with a degree in communications.

"Ice is a proven winner who brings championship experience, versatility, and a high basketball IQ to our program," head coach Brooke Wyckoff said. "

At 6'3, she impacts the game on both ends with her length, rebounding, and ability to make plays, and we're excited about how she fits into our system. Having competed at the highest level and been part of a national championship team, she understands what it takes to win, and we believe her best basketball is still ahead of her."

Brady played in only two games this past season for the Huskies because of this injury. She also redshirted as a true freshman, so it's unclear exactly how many years she'll have available in Tallahassee. The eligibility rules for athletes are under scrutiny right now and we should have more definitive answers soon.

About Brady

A native of San Diego, Calif., Brady has played in 73 career games, helping UConn win the national title in 2024-25. She played in 39 games as a redshirt freshman (2023-24), averaging 4.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. As a redshirt sophomore she averaged 3.6 ppg in 32 games as the Huskies won the title.

She scored 2.5 ppg in her two games this past season. The Huskies advanced to the Final Four but were beaten by South Carolina.

Though Brady's numbers won't stand out, it is yet another tough loss for Geno Auriemma's team. Senior standout Azzi Fudd has graduated and just earned the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft. Serah Williams is also gone to the WNBA and Ayannah Patterson has transferred.
