One week after beating Syracuse, the Huskies are back on the floor on Monday night.

One week after beating the Syracuse Orange in the first exhibition game of the season, the UConn Huskies women's program is back in action on Monday night when it takes on Texas at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford.

Our own Jami Leabow wrote a full preview of the matchup between the two national powers, but let's drill down a little bit just on the Huskies.

Here's three things we want to see in this one.

1) Will UConn shoot better from the outside?

The Huskies went just 3-of-22 from three-point range in the win against Syracuse, and though they won that game by 28, they'll need to shoot better if they are going to get where they want to go.

Related stories

You can write the performance off as just "one bad game in an unfamiliar arena," if you want to, but it was also a stark reminder that Azzi Fudd is no longer wearing a Huskies uniform.

We expect Sarah Strong to be better than her 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, but beyond her, who else is going to step up and knock down those shots?

2) The freshman connection

Jovana Popovic started last week in place of the injured Blanca Quinonez and instantly made an impact, scoring 10 points in 32 minutes while also going 5-of-7 from the floor. Olivia Vukosa, the No. 2 recruit in the Class of 2027, also had 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

Both players figure to see significant minutes again in this one, and we're excited to see how they'll perform against another step up in competition.

Both showed a strong understanding of where to be and how to move, and Vukosa was excellent on the low block.

3) Continued guard play

In addition to losing her 3-point shooting, the Huskies also need to replace Fudd's stability in the backcourt when it comes to ballhandling and leadership.

It's obvious that KK Arnold is primed for a big season, but who is ready to step up behind her? Ashlynn Shade, Kayleigh Heckel and Allie Ziebell will all have their chances, and Kelis Fisher could as well. She scored 11 points in 11 minutes against the Orange.

Need to know

This is the second of three exhibition games for the Huskies, who will also play Army at Gampel Pavilion on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.

The regular season begins on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. ET against Cornell.
