The Irish are unranked.

The University of Connecticut women's basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the most recent AP Top 25 poll that came out on Monday.

The Huskies (15-0, 6-0 Big East) rolled to another win this past weekend over Seton Hall, winning 84-48. Only one of their 15 games have been within double-digits; a three-point win against Michigan earlier in the campaign.

UConn is looking for a second straight national championship.

If the Huskies haven't been tested, don't blame the schedule. Geno Auriemma's group has taken on all challengers, beating usual powers like Iowa, Louisville, Southern California and Ohio State. Michigan has been ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation.

The second-to-last remaining non-conference test for the Huskies is a date with Notre Dame on Jan. 19. They'll also play Tennessee on Feb. 1.

Notre Dame game might provide rare recent history

Per Emily Adams of the Hartford Courant.

UConn stays No. 1 in the AP poll, some big changes for past & future opponents.

Notre Dame out of the poll, will be the first unranked game in the series since 2019 if that holds until Jan. 19. Louisville up to 10, Tennessee up to 20, Michigan down to 9, USC down to 21.

The Fighting Irish are 10-4 and 2-2 inside Atlantic Coast Conference play. They've lost their last two games against Georgia Tech and Duke.

Traditionally one of the best programs in the country, Notre Dame has been to 28 of the last 29 NCAA Tournaments. They won the national title in 2000-01 and finished as the national runner-ups in 2010-11, 2011-12, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2018-19.
