Morgan Scalley looks to maintain his historic undefeated streak under the lights as the Utes bring a legendary atmosphere to Rice-Eccles Stadium for this Big 12 clash.

There will be a Big 12 'whiteout' after dark in Salt Lake City next weekend.

The No. 13 Utah Utes enter its bye week after a hard-fought Big 12 road opener against Iowa State. Morgan Scalley's team returns home to face the Kansas Jayhawks on October 10 at 10:15 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN.

This will be the second late game for Utah this season. The last time, Utah defeated Arkansas in stunning fashion with a 43-10 result. Needless to say, the Utes might enjoy being outside prime time because it equals wins.

Scalley continues to have an impressive first season as the Utes head football coach. At 5-0, which includes a victory over Nebraska in last year's Las Vegas Bowl, it's one of the best starts in school history. Scalley became the first Utah coach since Jim Fassel in 1985 to start his tenure by winning the first five games.

Larry Coker holds the record for the best first-year performance by a college football head coach in the modern era, going 12-0 and winning the national championship with the Miami Hurricanes in 2001. He set a new standard with what many consider the best team in FBS history. If Scalley even comes close to that feat, Utah will be in outstanding shape looking ahead towards the future.

As for Kansas, the 1-2 record has been tough to swallow in the first month of the season. The Jayhawks have been competitive in every game this season with losses to Arizona State and Missouri. The lone win for Lance Leopold's team came against LIU to start the season. Since then, the back-to-back losses have given them a lopsided record.

This will be the first time Utah has hosted Kansas in 30 years, with the Utes riding a three-game winning streak in the series dating back to 1993. Overall, Utah holds a 4-2 all-time series lead over Kansas, who last took down the Utes in 1951. Kyle Whittingham's final game at Utah was a 31-21 win in Lawrence last November.

After Kansas, Utah hits the most competitive part of this year's schedule. They'll face the duo of Cougars in a three-week span. Both Houston and BYU are currently ranked. While BYU was expected to be one of the best Big 12 teams this year, Houston is a bit of a surprise. Both matchups will give a pretty good indication of where Utah stands going into the final month of the season.
