Following a dominant shutout victory in the Band of Brothers rivalry, the undefeated Utes climb two spots as they prepare for a high-stakes Big 12 conference debut.
The Utah Utes (3-0) wasted no time making a statement against Utah State on Saturday. Morgan Scalley picks up his first win in the Band of Brothers rivalry, closing out non-conference play on a high note in the 33-0 shutout. The victory pushed the Utes up two spots in the latest AP Top 25 Poll to No. 15.
Utah has won 16 of its past 17 games against Utah State dating back to 1998. Devon Dampier threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns against the Aggies. Both scores went to Braden Pegan. The Utah State transfer had a career-high 122 receiving yards against his former team. This win puts the Utes closer to the top end of the rankings.
BYU remained the highest-ranked Big 12 team going into Week 4. Texas Tech is now ranked No. 11, ahead of No. 25 Houston, who tumbled after a close loss to Texas Tech.

The game everyone in the nation was watching on Saturday night featured Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford. However, the Ole Miss Rebels spoiled the homecoming by pulling off a 32-24 upset over LSU. The Rebels held off Lane Kiffin and the Tigers all the way until the end. LSU landed at No. 10 after the loss. The Southeastern Conference had 10 ranked teams this week, including Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama and LSU in the top 10.
Despite half the conference being ranked, Texas A&M took the biggest fall. The Aggies went from No. 9 to No. 23 after its 31-21 home loss to unranked Kentucky. Louisville was the biggest gainer, rising seven spots to No. 16 after its 41-31 victory over SMU. The top of the rankings stayed the same. Texas was No. 1 for the second straight week, followed by Georgia and Notre Dame to round out the top three.
Week 4 will be a good one with five key ranked matchup
No. 1 Terxas heads to Knoxville for a meeting with No. 14 Tennessee for an SEC matchup.
After some early season struggles, Kyle Whittingham and No. 18 Michigan face No. 17 Iowa.
No. 4 Ole Miss visits Gainesville to face No. 21 Florida.
No. 23 Texas A&M takes on No. 10 LSU in a matchup between two SEC teams desperate to win following tough losses.
As for the Big Ten's biggest contest. No. 20 Oregon can regain some momentum with a win over No. 12 USC.
Utah will hit the road for the first Big 12 game this season. The Utes will be in Ames, Iowa to face an upbeat Iowa State squad.
