How to Watch Washington Football Week 2 Against UC Davis cover image

Washington will look to go 2-0 on the new season Saturday when it hosts UC Davis at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

The Huskies rebounded from a sluggish first half against Colorado State and outscored the Rams 24-7 in the second half to record a 38-21 win.

Jonah Coleman carried the ball 24 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and added one reception for 22 yards. Demond Williams Jr. was 18-for-24 passing for 226 yards and a score.

The Huskies have won 21 consecutive home games.

UC Davis traveled to Montgomery, Ala., on Aug. 23 to meet Mercer at the 2025 FCS Kickoff Classic, but the game was declared a no-contest, called in the fourth quarter when weather left the rest of the game unplayable.

Davis is ranked No. 5 in the FCS and defeated Utah Tech last Saturday, 34-21. Caden Pinnick was 21-of-31 passing for 253 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Jordan Fisher rushed 16 times for 105 yards and a score, and Samuel Gbatu Jr. caught four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Meet the coaches

  • Jedd Fisch, Washington: Fisch is in his second season with the Huskies, who finished 6-7 (4-5 Big Ten) last season. It was Washington’s first season as a member of the Big Ten, and a departure from 2023, when the Huskies lost to Michigan 34-13 in the College Football Playoff title game. When Kalen DeBoer departed for Alabama, Washington turned to Fisch, who took Arizona from 1-11 in his first season in 2021 to 10-3 and a victory in the Alamo Bowl in 2023. Fisch, 49, has extensive experience in both college and the NFL and signed a seven-year, $54.1 million deal with Washington in January 2024.
  • Tim Plough, UC Davis: Like Fisch, Plough is in his second season on the job, hired in December 2023 as the head coach at his alma mater. He was an Aggies quarterback from 2003-07 and began his coaching career there. He also served as an assistant coach at Northern Arizona, Boise State and Cal before returning to Davis. Now 40, he led the Aggies to an 11-3 record, with the win total the highest in program history. They finished ranked No. 5 in the nation.
