The Huskies earned their second top 25 win of the season in an ultra-competitive affair against the Terrapins.

The No. 25 Washington Huskies women's basketball team wrapped up its two-game east coast trip with one of its most competitive wins of the season.

It took two overtimes, 10 extra minutes of game time, a career-high and a double-double, but the Huskies came out on top in an 83-80, two-overtime victory against the No. 16 Maryland Terrapins.

Washington improved to 17-4 on the season and 7-3 in Big Ten competition with the hard-fought victory.

Before the Huskies got back into the fight and went jab-for-jab with the Terrapins, UW had to come back from an early deficit.

Washington stayed within two-to-three possessions of Maryland in the first quarter, but the Terps ended the first 10 minutes on a 7-0 run to go into the second quarter leading 22-11.

The second quarter proceeded the same way as the first. The Huskies cut their deficit to 26-21 with five minutes, 33 seconds left in the first half. The Terrapins ended the half on a 9-2 run to go into halftime up 35-23.

Washington wasn't able to find an efficient pace from the floor in the first 20 minutes. Before halftime, the Dawgs shot 9-for-33 (27.3%) from the field and 1-for-11 from 3-point range.

The second half was truly when the Huskies started to turn up the pace. Down 39-29 with 7:57 left in the third, Washington went on a 10-0 run to bring the game even 39-39 with 5:07 left in the frame.

Huskies junior guard Sayvia Sellers and sophomore guard Avery Howell had five points each during the team's run.

Sellers finished with a new single-game career-high of 38 points on 15-for-32 shooting, including a 5-for-15 mark from beyond the arc. She added four rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals. She played 48 of a possible 50 minutes.

Sellers became the first Washington player to finish with 35 points, five assists, and multiple steals and blocks since WNBA star and UW great Kelsey Plum did it in 2014.

Howell finished the game with 17 points on 5-for-10 shooting, including a 3-for-6 mark from long distance. She also had 11 rebounds, an assist and five steals. It was her fifth double-double of the season.

After the Huskies' third quarter run, the two sides continued to go blow-for-blow and went into the fourth quarter tied 46-46.

Washington fell behind 54-50 with 4:12 left in regulation after a 6-0 run from Maryland. The Huskies responded with their own 6-0 run to go back up 56-54.

Once again, the Terrapins had an answer. They went on a 5-0 run and led 59-56 with 23 seconds left in the game.

Senior guard Elle Ladine, who finished the game with 10 points, three rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal, hit a triple with 13 seconds left to send the game into overtime knotted 59-59.

In the first overtime period, Sellers hit a layup with four seconds left to give the Dawgs a 72-71 advantage.

With one second left, Howell fouled Maryland redshirt senior guard Saylor Poffenbarger, giving her two shots at the free-throw line with an opportunity to set up the Terps with a game-winning make at the charity stripe.

Poffenbarger only made one of her two free throws, which sent the game into a second overtime.

With 4:17 left in the second overtime period, Sellers hit a 3-pointer, her final triple of the game, to give UW a 75-72 advantage. Washington didn't allow the Terrapins to tie or retake the lead the rest of the game.

The Huskies will return home to take on Illinois at 3 p.m. PT on Feb. 1 at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.
