The Huskies were unable to pull off the upset against the Ducks and finished 8-4 in the regular season

The Washington Huskies football team was unable to pull off an upset and fell to the No. 6 Oregon Ducks 26-14 in the final game of the regular season Saturday at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

The loss gave the Huskies a final record of 8-4 on the year. Three of those losses were against ranked opponents — including a 24-6 result against No. 1 Ohio State on Sept. 27 and a 24-7 defeat at the hands of No. 15 Michigan on Oct. 18.

"Oregon's a good football team," Washington coach Jedd Fisch said in a postgame interview. "Coach (Dan Lanning) does a great job. So it was not a surprise that it was going to be a very good football game today. Very physical. Two teams that were competing at a very high level running the football, trying to run the football. I thought there were just a few plays in the game that were difference-makers for us that just didn't go our way."

Oregon's defense was able to neutralize a Washington offense that already had several key contributors, including senior running back Jonah Coleman and junior wide receiver Denzel Boston, not at full strength due to respective injuries.

The only offense to be found in the first quarter was a 46-yard field goal by senior Ducks kicker Atticus Sappington that put the visitors in front 3-0 with 11:12 left in the first quarter.

Both offenses started to pick up steam in the second quarter.

Sophomore Oregon quarterback Dante Moore found the end zone on a one-yard run to bolster the Ducks' lead to 10-0. Sappington connected for a 32-yard field goal with 3:18 left in the first half that put the Huskies behind 13-0.

With just 10 seconds left before halftime, sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. found Boston for a three-yard touchdown completion that cut Oregon's lead to 13-7.

On the completion to Boston, Williams took a big hit that was indicative of the pressure he was under Saturday.

The second-year signal caller completed just 50% of his passes (15-for-30) for 129 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He ran for 27 yards on 10 carries.

In the third quarter, Washington's defense embodied a "bend, don't break" mentality.

The Ducks increased their advantage to 19-7 going into the fourth quarter after Sappington connected on field goals of 37 and 51 yards, respectively.

With the game still in hand, the Huskies were able to cut Oregon's lead to one possession after Williams connected with Boston again on a fourth-down, 13-yard touchdown catch. An extra point from senior kicker Grady Gross had Washington trailing 19-14 with 8:54 left in the game.

Boston finished the game with four receptions for 25 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington was unable to keep the Ducks' offense at bay and Moore completed a 64-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Malik Benson that resulted in the eventual final of 26-14.

The Huskies had a small chance to pull off a miracle and took over at their own 13-yard line with just over two minutes left in the game.

Williams, with just under a minute-and-a-half on the clock, heaved a pass that was intercepted and downed at Oregon's 16-yard line.

The Ducks knelt out the clock to cement the win.

Washington will now wait to see what bowl game it will play, which will be announced the first week of December.
