The Seahawks are 3-1 on the young season and Seattle fans will enjoy the potential of seeing former Huskies star Myles Gaskin on the field in 2025.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that the Seattle Seahawks are signing former Washington running back Myles Gaskin to their practice squad.

While being on the practice squad offers no assurances of getting on the actual roster, it's still exciting for the large group of Husky fans that are also Seahawks fans.

The Seahawks at the RB position

On the surface, Seattle is set at running back with the tandem of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet.

However, missed five games last season and with as demanding as the position is, you can never have too many backs on call. A former second-round pick out of Michigan State, Walker is averaging 61.0 yards per game this season. He just had 81 yards and 19 carries as the Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals last Thursday.

Charbonnet, 24, has already missed a game this season, but he's failed to get going in the three others. Though he has two touchdowns, he's averaging just 32 yards per game and 2.5 per carry.

Beyond these two, the Seahawks have George Holani in the running back room. Kenny McIntosh is on injured reserve.

Seattle is 3-1 and will look to win their fourth game of the season on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    Gaskin in the NFL

A seventh-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2019, Gaskin has appeared in six NFL seasons with the Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings.

He's only appeared in nine games over the last three seasons, however, and he had only three carries in 2024. His best season game in 2021, when ran 173 times for 612 yards and three touchdowns.

He was with the Baltimore Ravens in the preseason.

    Gaskin at Washington

Gaskin spent all four years with the Huskies (2015-2018), as they played in the Pac-12. One of the better running backs in Washington history, he played 52 games with the Huskies, amassing 5,323 rushing yards. He had nearly 5,800 scrimmage yards in his tenure and he had 62 total touchdowns.

His 24 scrimmage touchdowns led the Pac-12 in 2017. He helped Washington get to the Rose Bowl in the 2018 season.

He is also a Seattle-native, having played at O'Dea high school.

    Up next for Huskies

After a loss against Ohio State over the weekend, the Huskies will be back in action on Saturday against Maryland. It will be a road contest at 12:30 p.m. PT.
