Denzel Boston is impressing in offseason workouts and seems to be primed to make an impact his rookie season with the Browns
The Washington Huskies football team entered this offseason needing to replace a significant amount of production from the offense that left via the NFL Draft.
The Huskies leading receiver from last season, wide receiver Denzel Boston, was picked in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. The team's leading rusher, running back Jonah Coleman, was selected in the fourth round of the draft by the Denver Broncos.
Washington hasn't been able to take over the team's second outside receiver spot, which will play a major role in whether or not the team will be able to make up the production left by Boston's absence.
While the Huskies have been sorting out their vacant wide receiver spots, Boston has been making a solid first impression with his new team, the Browns.
In an article written by the Athletic's Zac Jackson, Boston has been one of the "offensive standouts" of spring workouts. According to the article, Boston has been splitting time with the No. 2 offense in early portions of practices but has received starting reps in competitive periods, such as 7-on-7 and 11-on-11.
Boston had one of the best catch radii of the wide receiver prospects in the '26 draft. He's listed at 6-foot-4 and 209 pounds. Based on reports, Cleveland quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders are utilizing Boston on downfield throws and play calls, and the rookie wide receiver is making plays.
The Boise, Idaho, native and Emerald Ridge High School (Puyallup, Wash.) graduate spent the entirety of his career with Washington.
Boston didn't see the field often in his first two seasons from '22-23 due to UW's stacked wide receiver room, which featured 2023 first-round pick Rome Odunze (drafted Chicago Bears) and '23 second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk (drafted to New England Patriots).
In his first two years of college ball, in which he was coached by former Huskies and current Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, Boston caught seven passes for 67 yards.
Boston's production saw a significant uptick in his third and fourth years in the Pacific Northwest from 2024-25. He reeled in 125 passes for 1,715 yards (13.7 yards a catch) and 20 touchdowns.
Washington's wide receiver room will be one of the main positions to watch in training camp. And apparently the wide receiver room with the Browns, specifically how Boston continues to play, is shaping out to draw eyes, as well.
