The 2025-26 NFL season concluded on Sunday with the Seattle Seahawks' 29-13 win against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Now that the final game of the season has been played, attention is now being paid toward the NFL Scouting Combine and subsequent draft. The combine takes place from Feb. 22-March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The draft takes place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
One of the Washington Huskies football team's best player from a season ago seems likely to have his name called on the first day of the draft April 23.
A recent mock draft written by Nick Baumgardner of the Athletic predicted former Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston to get selected in the first round, 26th overall, by the Buffalo Bills.
The mock draft predicts Boston will be the fourth wide receiver taken in the draft, behind Ohio State's Carnell Tate at fifth overall to the New York Giants; Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson eighth overall to the New Orleans Saints and USC's Makai Lemon 24th overall to the Cleveland Browns.
Baumgardner had the following assessment on his prediction of Boston to the Bills:
This feels like a draft in which some really talented receivers could slide because teams have too many needs elsewhere. But Boston and Lemon also could follow Tate and Tyson into the top 20. Boston would provide outstanding value at this spot.
Boston was the Huskies' leading receiver in 2025 and proved an invaluable target for sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. in the latter's first full season as a starter.
Boston reeled in 62 passes for 881 yards (14.2 yards per catch) and 11 touchdowns. His 11 scores were tied for ninth in country.
Boston wrapped up his career in Washington having caught 132 passes for 1,781 yards (13.5 yards a catch) and 20 touchdowns. All of his scores came in the last two seasons.
The 6-foot-4 pass-catcher concluded his career with a six-catch, 126-yard, one-touchdown performance for the Huskies in the team's 38-10 Los Angeles Bowl win against the Boise State Broncos on Dec. 13.
If Boston is selected in the first round of the '26 draft, he would be the sixth UW player and third wide receiver selected in the first two rounds of the last three NFL drafts. Washington didn't have a player selected in the first round in the '25 draft.
In '24, quarterback Michael Penix Jr., wide receiver Rome Odunze and offensive guard Troy Fautanu were selected in the first round of the draft. Wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk and offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten were picked in the second round that year.
