Former Washington Tight End Will Represent New England Patriots in Super Bowl cover image

Jack Westover, who spent his collegiate career in Seattle, will be looking to take down the city's NFL representatives

All eyes in Seattle will be glued to their television beginning at 3:30 p.m. PT on Feb. 8 when the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60.

This will be the fourth-ever appearance for the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, who will have the opportunity to earn their second-ever championship. It will also represent an opportunity for Seattle to avenge its loss in its previous Super Bowl appearance, which was also against New England.

The Seahawks lost to the Patriots in an infamous play that saw the former pass on the 1-yard line rather than hand the ball to running back Marshawn Lynch. The pass was ultimately intercepted by then-New England cornerback Malcolm Butler, which ultimately clinched the fourth of the Patriots' six championships.

On Sunday, one New England player will be looking to spoil the hopes of the same Seattle fans that once cheered for him.

Former Washington Huskies tight end and current Patriots fullback Jack Westover is the lone representative of the program on the active roster for either team in the Super Bowl.

Westover was a native of the Seattle area. He was born in Snoqualmie, Wash., a little over half an hour from Husky Stadium. He also attended O'Dea High School in Seattle before transferring in to Mount Si in his birth city of Snoqualmie.

Westover walked on at Washington and played with the program from 2018-23. He earned a full scholarship in 2020.

Across his collegiate career, Westover totaled 87 catches for 849 yards and six touchdowns. His last year in college ball was the 2023-24 season, where the Huskies advanced to the College Football Championship national championship game before ultimately falling 34-13 to Michigan.

Westover went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. Ironically, he signed with the Seahawks in 2024 but was ultimately waived with an injury settlement Aug. 30, 2024.

A little more than a month after his tenure with Seattle ended, Westover signed to the Patriots' practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster Nov. 24, 2024, and signed to the team's active roster Jan. 4, 2025. Before the year, he changed positions from tight end to full back and became New England's de facto starting fullback.

Westover only received one touch during the regular season and caught one pass for zero yards but has been an important player in the Patriots' run game, which ranked fifth in the NFL this season in rushing yards per game (129.2).
