Fourth-year running back Jayden Limar has returned to practice after suffering an elbow injury that's kept him out since Week 1.

SEATTLE — The Washington Huskies football team has been plagued with injuries, even before the season began.

Towards the beginning of spring training, the Huskies lost the assumptive starter, third-year Jordan Washington, to a next injury. In Week 1, a 24-10 win against the Washington State Cougars on Sept. 6, second-year running back Quaid Carr and fourth-year Jayden Limar both suffered long-term injuries, a hand injury for Carr and an elbow for Limar, respectively.

In addition to those three, reserve running back, second-year Julian McMahan suffered an ankle/foot injury that will also keep him out the majority of the season.

First-year running back Ansu Sanoe missed the team's 38-26 win against the Purdue Boilermakers on Oct. 16 due to what was originally reported as flu-like symptoms, but it seems that he's also dealing with a foot strain that could potentially keep him out for the team's next game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Oct. 31.

Carr, Washington and Limar's respective injuries were also thought to be season-ending. However, it seems like the latter of the three will be back sooner than expected.

According to comments made by head coach Jedd Fisch in a weekly news conference, Limar has returned to practice, which would give the Huskies a major boost in their running back depth for the final stretch of the regular season.

"Jayden Limar has been able to get some practice reps, so we'll see what that looks like," Fisch said. "But we're able to get him back into the equation. Other than that, no change with Quaid, no change for Jordan Washington."

Limar will be rejoining the running back rotation for UW following the best rushing game of the season for the team.

The duo of first-year running back Brian Bonner Jr. and sixth-year Trey Cooley combined for 177 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. Bonner had 64 yards rushing and added another 25 yards and a score on two catches.

Cooley exited the game against Purdue due to an AC joint sprain in his shoulder, but has returned to practice and will be ready for the game against Nebraska.

Limar, a Lake Stevens, Wash., native, transferred to Washington this offseason after three years as a reserve running back for the Oregon Ducks.

In his three seasons with the Ducks, Limar ran 95 times for 442 yards and two touchdowns. He 20 passes for 207 yards and a score.

In his lone game for the Huskies this season, Limar ran 12 times for 47 yards and a touchdown while splitting carries with Carr and Cooley.
