The Washington Huskies ended the 2025 season on a strong note with a 38-10 win against the Boise State Broncos in the Los Angeles Bowl.
The victory improved the Huskies' record on the season to 9-4 — a three-win improvement from the team's first year under Jedd Fisch last season.
However, as soon as the season was over, Washington saw several departures via the NFL Draft and the transfer portal.
The program's leading rusher, senior running back Jonah Coleman, and leading pass-catcher, wide receiver Denzel Boston, both entered the 2026 NFL Draft.
Two players predicted to step up in place of Coleman and Boston, sophomore running back Adam Mohammed and freshman wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright, both entered the transfer portal.
The graduation of Coleman and transfer of Mohammed left the Huskies with very few options to line up in the backfield next season.
Luckily for Washington, one of its more likely options to take over for Coleman will be returning to the team in 2026.
MORE HUSKIES STORIES:
According to a post on his Instagram, freshman running back Jordan Washington announced he "re-signed" with the team and will return next season.
Washington, in his first college season, ran 27 times for 233 yards and a touchdown in 10 games played. He was third on the depth chart behind Coleman and Mohammed.
Washington's only touchdown of the season was a 68-yard sprint in the Huskies' 49-13 win against the Purdue Boilermakers on Nov. 15.
Assuming these players don't enter the transfer portal, Washington will share a running back room in 2026 with fellow freshmen Quaid Carr, Julian McMahan, Ryken Moon and junior Beck Walker.
The Dawgs also have impressive running backs coming to the program via the 2026 recruiting class, which ranks 12th in the nation according to 247Sports: four-star recruit Brian Bonner and three-star Ansu Sanoe.
Bonner is the seventh-ranked running back in the country in the '26 class, according to 247Sports, and could be a candidate to share reps with Washington.
With the exception of Walker, Washington's running back room is projected to be very young in 2026 and the Huskies could look to the transfer portal to find an experienced back that can make up for the reps lost with Coleman entering the draft and Mohammed hitting the transfer portal.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opens at Jan. 2 and continues through Jan. 16. Other notable running backs in the portal include Cincinnati senior Evan Pryor and North Texas freshman Caleb Hawkins.
