PORTAL UPDATE: Washington Lands Wide Receiver After Days of Efforts cover image

The Huskies finally landed their big-bodied deep-threat in the transfer portal

Despite the transfer portal closing on Jan. 16, teams have remained active to add the final touches to respective incoming classes.

Players who entered the portal during the Jan. 2-16 period are still eligible to commit to a new team.

Throughout the portal window and in the days since, the Washington Huskies football team remained active trying to bolster their team in 2026.

The Huskies added four defensive lineman, an offensive lineman, a cornerback, a running back, a place kicker and a punter to their ranks in 2026.

Despite the aforementioned additions, Washington has remained active in search of a big-bodied wide receiver who could potentially serve as a deep threat in 2026.

The Huskies were in the running for receivers Jeremy Scott III (South Alabama), Naeshaun Montgomery (Florida) and Darrell Gill Jr. (Syracuse), among others.

Washington struck out on those wide receivers but finally found its guy Jan. 18.

The Huskies earned a commitment from receiver Christian Moss, who transferred in from Kennesaw State.

Moss, who's listed at 6-foot-3, 199 pounds and played as a redshirt senior this past year, played the last two seasons with the Owls after spending three years with the Virginia Tech Hokies.

In 14 games this last year with Kennesaw State, Moss reeled in 45 passes for 689 yards (15.3 yards per catch) and two touchdowns.

His amount of catches and yards were the most in a single season in his collegiate career.

Moss was granted an extra year of eligibility due to suffering a dislocated middle finger in spring of 2023. He was removed from Virginia Tech's roster after the spring transfer window closed but had his scholarship maintained, preventing him from getting an exemption to transfer out.

Moss was originally a three-star recruit in the class of 2021 according to the 247Sports Composite.

Washington isn't lacking for bodies in the wide receiver room. Including the 2026 players from the 2026 recruiting classes, the Huskies have 12 wide receivers on the roster including Moss according to the team's official roster page.

Despite having a large quantity of targets, Washington doesn't have a lot of players on the roster with extensive experience. The team's leading receiver from this past season, Denzel Boston, is entering the 2026 NFL Draft and freshman wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright transferred to Arizona State.

With Moss on the roster, sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. now has a legitimate deep-ball threat with several seasons of experience in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Moss with join 2026 sophomore Dezmen Roebuck, who caught 42 passes for 560 yards and seven touchdowns.
