The Washington Huskies were unable to land a commitment from Josiah Molden but found themselves in the running for Censere Gaylord
The Washington Huskies football team has been steadily building a stream of young, promising talent since head coach Jedd Fisch took over a head of the 2024 season.
The Huskies' 2026 recruiting class ranked 12th in the country, according to 247Sports.
Washington's collection of Class of 2026 recruits is set to exceed even that mark but it missed out on one of the most promising cornerbacks of '27.
In the same breath, the Huskies found themselves right in the middle of the commitment for another impressive corner.
Here's a roundup of the recent recruitment updates for Washington:
Josiah Molden (West Linn, Ore.)
Josiah Molden was arguably the most head-to-head recruitment battle between the Huskies and Oregon Ducks.
Despite being a West Linn, Ore., native — Molden had ties to both Washington and Oregon. His father, Alex Molden, played for the Ducks from 1991-95.
Josiah Molden's brother, Elijah Molden, played with the Huskies from 2017-20. Both Alex and Elijah Molden carved out NFL careers after their respective college careers. Elijah Molden is currently in the midst of his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The youngest Molden is ranked as the 209th-best player, 28th-best cornerback and best player in Oregon in the Class of 2027 according to 247Sports.
Josiah Molden's legacy status with both programs made his recruitment the most direct "battle" between the two Pacific Northwest schools.
According to a post on "X" from Rivals and On3 Sports reporter Hayes Fawcett, Josiah Molden opted to commit to Oregon over Washington on Sunday.
Ohio State and Texas were also among the final teams being considered by Molden.
Censure Gaylord, (Bradenton, Fla.)
A day after the Huskies found out they were out of the running to land Molden, they were named as a finalist for another of the top corners in the country.
According to a post on "X" from Fawcett, four-star cornerback Censure Gaylord named Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn and Washington as the final teams he's considering.
The 6-foot, 160-pound corner is ranked as the 110th-best player, 13th-best cornerback and 12th best player out of Florida, according to 247Sports.
Gaylord is set to make official visits with all four of the final teams he's considering, per Fawcett's report.
Notes
The Huskies' 2027 recruiting class currently ranks sixth in the nation, per 247Sports. The five teams ranked ahead of Washington are: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Southern California (USC), Ohio State and Notre Dame.
