

University of Washington women's basketball alum Kelsey Plum is back on the floor with Team USA this week as part of the group that will compete at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Qualifier in Puerto Rico from March 11-17.
The tournament serves as a qualifier for the Women's World Cup in Berlin in September, which the Americans have already advanced to. Team USA has won the gold medal at every Olympics since 1996, and these tournaments serve as a precursor to the next Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles in 2028.

The most prolific scorer in college basketball history until Caitlin Clark came around, Plum starred for four seasons on Montlake. A starter in all 139 of her collegiate games, she averaged 25.4 ppg for her career.
Plum led the Pac-12 in scoring from each of her sophomore through senior years and led the nation in scoring as a senior at 31.7 ppg. She led the Pac-12 in free-throw percentage each of her four seasons, shooting at 88 percent lifetime.
She helped UW reach the Final Four in 2015-16 where they were beaten by Syracuse. She won National Player of the Year in her senior year and was a first-team All-American. She was a four-time All-Pac 12 selection.
As a result of her great college career, she was the No. 1 pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Stars.

She is a two-time champion, an All-WNBA selection and she won the Sixth Player of the Year award in 2021.
She won a Gold Medal at the 2024 Olympics and was also a gold medal winner in 3x3 basketball at the 2020 Olympics.
The UW men's basketball team earned the No. 12 seed in the Big Ten Conference tournament, which begins on Tuesday. Washington will play No. 13 USC to open up their tournament run on Wednesday. The Big Ten championship is set for Sunday before the Selection Show. Michigan is the No. 1 seed.
