The Washington Huskies men's basketball team has been been solid in recruiting players, both incoming freshman and transfers, since head coach Danny Sprinkle took over the program before the 2024-25 season.
In the program's first year under Sprinkle, the program netted top-30 national prospect and McDonald's All-American (and local Tacoma, Wash., native) Zoom Diallo.
Before this year, Washington was able to land notable international freshmen forwards Hannes Steinbach (Germany) and Nikola Dzepina (Serbia). The former of the two is currently on track to make national All-Freshmen lists. Four-star freshman guards JJ Mandaquit and Courtland Muldrew, and four-star forward Jasir Rencher, also committed to the team this season.

According to a recent report, the Huskies could also be in contention to land the top 2026 recruit in the country.
According to a post on "X" from Dawgman.com reporter Jack McCauley, Washington could become a "major player" in Tyran Stokes recruitment.
Stokes, who was previously at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif., withdrew from the school and is currently enrolled at Rainier Beach High School in the Huskies' backyard in Seattle.
Stokes, a small forward who's listed at 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds per 247Sports, has offers from notable programs such as Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, Southern California (USC) and Oregon.
247Sports' director of scouting, Adam Finkelstein, had the following scouting report on Stokes on July 20:
Stokes is the most talented prospect in the national class and a unique match-up for opposing defenders. At 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds with a 7-foot wingspan, he’s powerful, long, and explosively athletic. But while he’s built like a forward, he can make plays like a guard with an ability to create off the dribble and an innate understanding of how to instinctively find a path to the rim, even when one doesn’t seem to initially present itself. He’s especially lethal getting downhill in the open floor and loves to take the ball off the defensive glass (10 rebounds per game in EYBL) and start the break himself.
247Sports' Crystal Ball currently projects Stokes to commit to Kentucky but him playing in Seattle does provide Washington's staff an opportunity to get a firsthand look at him and throw a wrench into his recruitment.
If the Huskies, who finished last in the 18-team Big Ten last season, manages to make some noise in the conference this season, Sprinkle and the rest of the recruiting staff could sell Stokes on the direction of the program.
If current players, such as Steinbach, find themselves in lottery discussions come the '26 NBA Draft, that could also turn into a major selling point for Stokes.
According to 247Sports, Washington doesn't have an offer currently in place for Stokes.
