When Washington Huskies football head coach Jedd Fisch was hired ahead of the 2024 season, there was an expectation that he would oversee a rebuild for the program, akin to what he did with the Arizona Wildcats.
The Huskies improved on its record by three wins in 2025 from the previous year, finishing with a 9-4 overall record that was capped off with a 38-10 win against the Boise State Broncos in the Los Angeles Bowl.
UW also inked its highest-ranked recruiting class in history. The 2026 class ranked 12th according to the 247Sports Composite at the time of National Signing Day.
Washington has started to receive some preseason hype this offseason and has listed in several early Top 25 polls from various publications.
The Huskies have a steady amount of expectations going into the upcoming season, and the program recently released its slate of conference games for '26.
Here's how Washington's '26 schedule plays out:
For non-conference, the Huskies will play Washington State on Sept. 5 at home at Husky Stadium in Seattle; will play Utah State on Sept. 12 at home and will play in-state Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent Eastern Washington on Sept. 19 at home.
Washington's Big Ten opponents are: Minnesota at home Sept. 26; Southern California (USC) on Oct. 3 on the road in Los Angeles; Iowa on Oct. 10 at home; Purdue on Oct. 17 in West Lafayette, Ind.; against Nebraska on Halloween in Lincoln, Neb.; against Penn State on Nov. 7 at home; Michigan State on Nov. 14 in East Lansing, Mich.; the defending College Football Playoff national champions Indiana on Nov. 21 in Seattle and the Huskies will wrap up the regular season against Pacific Northwest rivals Oregon on Nov. 28 in Eugene, Ore.
Oct. 24 will be the Huskies' bye week.
Kick-off times for the games are still to-be-determined.
Washington will play four teams that finished in the end-of-season Associated Press Top 25 poll: Indiana (No. 1), Oregon (No. 4), Iowa (No. 17) and USC (No. 20). Based on the final poll of last season, that gives Washington four Top 25 opponents. Those games are equally split between two at home and two on the road.
A big benefit for the Huskies going into next season compared to previous years is that Washington won't have any games against east coast opponents.
In 2025, the Huskies traveled to New Jersey and Maryland to play Rutgers and Maryland, respectively. The farthest UW will have to travel is to East Lansing, Mich., to play Michigan State (2,284 miles).
