University of Washington football standout Denzel Boston is taking the next steps in his near-NFL journey with the NFL Draft just over a month away (April 23).
As noted by Field Yates of ESPN, Boston will have a pre-draft workout with the Cleveland Browns on Friday. As Yates says, players get 12 scheduled pre-draft 30 visits. He ranks Boston as the No. 27 player on his big board, meaning that he should be a first-round pick in Yates' mind.
Yates is one of the top NFL Draft Insiders around and is seen on ESPN's year-round coverage of the NFL.
Boston recently appeared at both the NFL Combine and at Washington's Pro Day, which was covered by our own Teren Kowatsch.
Though he played in four different seasons (2022-25), he was only charged with three seasons of eligibility at Washington, meaning he's leaving one on the table. Playing in 43 career games in those four years, Boston had 132 catches and 1,781 yards to go along with 20 total touchdowns. He averaged 13.5 yards per reception for his career.
He was a dynamic part of the Huskies' offense in each of the last two seasons, having 63 and 62 catches, respectively. He had 11 touchdowns in 2025, earning Third-Team All-Big Ten honors.
Washington went 9-4 in 2025 and won the LA Bowl against Boise State.
Once Boston is selected, he'll join Rome Odunze, Ja'lynn Polk and Jalen McMillan as recent UW receivers to head to the NFL. Odunze is part of the Chicago Bears team that just won the NFC North.
For Boston, simply being drafted will be a great honor, but where you are drafted often matters as well. The Browns have repeatedly been one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the NFL and have not even been to an AFC Championship Game since returning to the NFL in 1999.
The wide receiver position is unsettled for Cleveland, with Jerry Jeudy representing the No. 1 option for new head coach Todd Monken.
The quarterback position is also unsettled. Shedeur Sanders remains the possible starter, with Deshaun Watson in the mix.
The Browns have two first-round picks: No. 6 and No. 24.
For Seattle fans hoping to see Boston stay local and get drafted by the Super Bowl champs, it seems unlikely. The Seahawks have only four picks in the NFL Draft (Rounds 1-3, Round 6). The first pick (No. 32), could be too late to get Boston anyways, but the Seahawks have bigger needs in that spot anyways.
It looks like Huskies fans will have to hope Boston is selected by a team that plays the Seahawks in 2026 if they want to see him in town again.
